ABILITY plenary meeting @University of Lund

23 April 2025

Details

We just had last week another very fruitful 2-day general assembly for the project, this time hosted by the University of Lund team. We shared the progress of the project, and despite some hardware delivery delays, the project is generally on track, also given we have now a 6 months extension.

On the second day, we tested various demos, from the work on designing on content display on a pin matrix (the dotpad), interactions with tactile graphics on an iPad app, textures generated by AI and graph exploration on the haptics tablet. The feedback was positive, especially by the visually impaired users on the consortium.

Next we are working on our attendance and demo stand at Sight City in May and the upcoming studies! Stay tuned.

One person at a table with a tablet in front of him displayed a bar chart. The visually impaired person is feeling the graph with his two hands on the tactile tablet. This tablet delivers vibrotactile feedback depending on the content upon touch
Member of LASS, the association for the visually impaired testing the display with haptic feedback only on our haptic tablet, for the exploration of a bar chart

Four people on the image, two standing up, one next to a laptop and one testing a pin matrix by feeling the content with one hand and discussing with the other persons
That same consortium member testing the content display on the dotpad and discussing with consortium members
