ABILITY @Tactile Reading Conference 2025

Détails
Last week, the ABILITY consortium was represented at the Tactile Reading Conference 2025 taking place in Amsterdam with more than 500 attendees from all horizons, including teachers, end-user organisations, academics and industrials . We presented both a demo of the haptic tablet and a talk on the user-centred design adopted, in particular through lo-fi prototyping techniques.

Similarly to Sight City, we received interest in the tablet and this time, in particular for the use of tactile graphics with the iPad for touch interaction with audio output, given one of the major focus of the conference on tactile graphics. This gave us a new idea for an exploration lead!
I also had the chance to visit a specialised school for visual impaired children at Grave. So many ingenious uses of 3D printing and low-cost elements in their teachings and in the environment, and important teaching techniques put in place, it was very informative! A big thank you again to the organisers, the school and the kids who welcomed us.
If you would like to follow up on some the discussions we had, or anything related to the project, don't hesitate to contact us! In the meantime, let's get back to work to progress on the developments!
